Classic Moro (startle) reflex in 2-week old Amy at home. One of the many reflexes tested at the hospital in newborns. Any startling event (falling sensation, loud noise or here, sudden touch) causes the arms to go straight out and hands wide open. ALMOST as funny as fainting goats. Search that for a hoot.

  • This is like the cutest educational video ever. lol

  • This is not the Moro Reflex. It is the Startle reflex. Moro reflex is when you decrease support to head/trunk and the arms go up (similar to startle reflex). Very cute baby! Excellent startle reflex though.

  • this is not moro reflex

  • @bmwmaniac1 Startle reflex is distinct from moro reflex. More reflex has an adduction of the limbs following the abduction. This is the startle reflex in the video. To get the Moro reflex, you relieve support of the upper trunk (or even lower just the top half of the baby while she is sitting in your lap) and you can elicit a Moro reflex.
