Haiti was devastated by an earthquake Jan. 12, 2010. More than 300,000 people died and an equal number were injured. More than 1 million Haitians were left homeless. The Knights of Columbus has pledged to aid every Haitian child who lost a limb in the January 2010 earthquake that destroyed much of their country and claimed nearly a quarter of a million lives. Many thousands more were seriously injured, including hundreds of children who lost arms and legs in the tragedy. The Knights of Columbus has taken a special interest in helping those injured in Haiti. In cooperation with Project Medishare, the Healing Haiti's Children program pledges to provide prosthetics to every child who lost a limb as a result of the earthquake.
