@ImRamro You may want to google leaf lard then youtube "How to Render Lard: TheHealthyHomeEconomist". It is so easy to do at home in your cast iron pot. And it is healthy...for real. If you ever wondered why you could never get your fried chicken or pies to taste like grandma's it was because you were not using leaf lard.

I would suggest using CLEAN leaf lard...or at least filter your bacon grease :)

@mslizzygirl1 Every time I scrub my pans out with water only it does remove some seasoning. I use a generous amount of bacon grease when I am cooking sticking things. I would say the more you use these cast iron pans the better they will get. Some cast iron seasons better than others so there is no definite number. I season my stuff 6 times, but every time the pan heats up with grease it will season a little more. I spread bacon grease on the pan after it is clean and this helps.

How many times do I need to season a pan before using? I have found that after I seasoned a pan and cooked scrambled eggs or corn bread it sticks. And then when I have to clean it I have to scrub and the seasoned comes off.
I should also tell you your collection looks very well maintained...nice!

@rgburke Thank you so much, I use these pans everyday and we ditched all our nonstick pans, lol. Teflon kills birds so we got rid of all our nonstick Teflon stuff...we have parrots. Thanks for the tip and I will probably start filtering the bacon grease, good ideal.

I personally think seasoning on a stove top or high powered burner is better. Problem with using an oven is the smoek has nowhere to escape. I think the wok seasoning method might be better. HEat the pan with no oil on the surface untill very hot preferably using a high powered burner untill the pan starts to glow red then smear oil over the surface and leave to cool. I'm pretty sure that seasoning a pan in the oven is not quite the correct method.

@210482fmj May not be quite the right way to do it, but it worked great for me. Thanks for the info.

I hear a parrot on the background, and you are seasoning inside? :(

@Jinta33 Cast iron gives off no toxic fumes when heated and we consulted our vet first. It is "Teflon" that will kill them in a few minutes. We actually had a large parrot pass away from the fumes of a Teflon pan and threw all Teflon away. We have 1 Teflon wok and the kids are banned from ever touching it. It actually hangs in the rafters outside in the garage out of convenient reach. Cast iron is all we use now and our parrots are much safer.
