The war in North Africa was a gentlemen´s war. It was the last war which was conducted according to the rules of the Hague Convention and the Geneva Convention. German and British medics operated side by side in the same tent as it happened during Operation Market Garden.

The Africa campaign was also the first full mechanised war in history. You are right, the Waffen SS also fought in North Africa.

@SugarTomAppleRoger Well they were all INDIVIDUALS. Of course there were many kinds of people even in the SS.

But it has been proven that the SS committed appalling crimes - ethnic cleansings in White Russia and Ukraine, Poland & c. They behaved badly in the Mediterranean too. I regard the SS similar to the political wing of the Red Army. In both the ideology had devastating effect on morality.

The Wehrmacht was constantly ad odds with the SS - a fact which is forgotten.

@TheMrPangloss Absolutely correct. It is all about jealousy. The English are good at only one thing - mocking other nations. My father fought in WW2 in Cyrenaica against the Italian and German armies. He had great respect for both Germans and Italians. He was actually captured by the Germans, and got on very well with them. He even made a joke about one of the SS officers - another German, a colonel said "well he's Austrian". The SS man laughed also. The was never any bad feeling.

German Luftwaffe were bombing all Europe starting from Warsaw Poland 1939 to Moscow Russia . Luftwaffe made more hoorrible bommbing eurpean citys like one RAF ride over the Dreden. German Luftwaffe were kiling innocent people across all Europe during whole war world 2 ,Milions of peoples were victim  from airplane with swastika and black cross on the wings ,german airplanes !!!!!!!
