I was on the camera crew down on the ground where they pushed the button for the implosion... pretty loud and super dusty.. some bits of the building ended up within feet of us.

I was there on the first day the wrecking ball began taking down on the Damon Building and a sizeable chunk landed a few feet behind me. The police then realized that we were too close to the building and moved us back. I was there photographing and videotaping the demolition process almost every day. Maybe I should put up my videos of the demolition of the Damon Building and the preparations for the implosion of the FHB Building.

@HappyDesertSeagull Exact same thing happened to me when I filmed the implosion from the grounds of Iolani Palace. The charges went off and I flinched badly, shaking the camera! I recall after the first volley, I thought "oh no, the building didn't fall, it failed" and then the second volley kicked in and I realized the genius of the plan. The dust cloud came down King St, catching everyone by surprise, covering cars in "snow". This is why 9/11 footage looked familiar to me in a way, sadly.
