St. Michael's Abbey is a community of Norbertine Canons Regular in Orange County, California, dedicated to preserving the time-honored traditions of the Catholic Church for the last 900 years, fostering a vibrant Christ-centered culture via the sacraments, and forming the priests of tomorrow through common life, common prayer and education. St. Michael's Abbey continues to grow quickly, ten-fold since its inception. It now numbers over 70 priests and seminarians.
Members of the abbey live a monastic life, that includes following the Rule of St. Augustine, chanting of the Divine Office and Mass every day along with an active apostolate. The abbey's principal apostolate is its preparatory school, a boys' boarding school (9-12) focused on forming the Catholic leaders of tomorrow. The priests are also involved in parish work, retreats and writing and translation of spiritual books.
@dilworth1130 They celebrate the new mass but I believe they celebrate the 1962 missal on occasion or they know how to celebrate it. They filled in for the former pastor of St. Mary's by the Sea before Bishop Brown took it away from that parish.

Does St. Michael's Abbey celebrate the Holy Mass in the Tridentine Form according to the 1962 Missal? Or is it Novus Ordo?

The order has been involved with various abuse cases and covering for offenders..I am not talking about this prarticular abbey but the order world wide. The Norbertines covered for a priest in Ireland and helped to bring down the Irish govt. So tell me, why should we trust the church anymore? You have lost your moral authority and the respect of the world....

@fool1shmortal I've been to the abbey and although I am not sure about the wine farming the chanting is very real and quite beautiful. I think the video references to the wine is only a metaphor. It is mainly a school and parish. The Latin Mass is quite moving with the Gregorian chanting. It takes me back.

Do they really chant like that? The vid makes you want to join. I couldn't be one of the farming ones, though. That and anything with food is not my strength.
