Astatic, Skythumper, & Cobra Microphone Tests

August 30, 2009 I performed a test between 3 popular microphones. Models include: Astatic 636L, Skythumper ST-65DX, and Cobra Black Chrome M73SL Microphones. Once again the consumer makes many choices for their radios on how they want to sound like. Videos with audio is a great tool on hearing yourself so changes can be made. Most vehicles when driven make noise. That noise can take away from your voice. The greater separation between you voice and background noise the better. Your comments and ratings are welcomed!

@JettaJ1 When I got back into the hobby and used the internet realized tests like this were not present. That is why I formed Bulldog Radio Communications and videos like this is part of my goal. Taking products like these and doing a test and let the consumer make their own choice and save money/time! Thanks for the nice comments everyone...Bulldog

I liked the sound of the Astatic so much i have ordered one.

Just my opinion,but i thought it cancelled out more background noise.

The Cobra sounded cheep,and the 65DX was ok.

The audio from the Astatic takes some beating.

@125or200px Glad the video helped you to make a choice. I used a 636L Silver Edition on my Cobra 148 GTL. Have a Stars 'n Stripes - Flag Edition which is hanging on the wall with other American things. Take care, Bulldog.

@125or200px I gather the exact same thing. There was just a certain "clarity," or "cleanliness," to the 636's tone. It did seem to cancel the most noise too.

Hi Bulldog.Its the Chrome edition that im waiting on,i like the look of it,and it was a good price for such a well made microphone.

Many thanks for the informative video,i take more notice of these than i do of manufacturer reviews,who are all out to sell the product.no matter how good or bad it may be.
