Here's a treat: me testing my smoke detector using a magnet! For those who don't know, the Simplex TrueAlarm series (both addressable and non-addressable) allows for magnetic testing to test for FUNCTIONALITY (you should always use real smoke or smoke simulator to test for operation). Simply place a magnet near the LED (a line on the detector head will also indicate where to place the magnet) and it should give a response (LED will either blink, go into alarm, or not go into alarm at all). In this case, it went right into alarm, which meant it was functioning just fine. I didn't take the camera w/ me because of me needing to stand on the chair in order to reach the detector. Plus, this way, I got an overall shot of the system (no closeups though). The LEDs don't show up too well on the panel either, but at least the LED on the detector does.

  • What zone is the smok?

  • @kentfirealarms Two. The pull is Zone one.

  • Haha you are like: Oh look! the fire alarm is sounding!

  • @NewAgeServerAlarm It was more like, "wow, it works!", haha. Up until then, every magnet I used on it wasn't strong enough to trigger the detector.

  • where did you get your panel from

  • @Xtrapolis5 eBay.

  • Thanks

  • @firewacker432 Wow you know NOTHING about this crap. He's perfectly FINE. No ones gonna call the cops just cuz he sets off an alarm for fun when you cant even hear in in the neighbors yard.

  • @weatherdan882002 u should stop or some one will call the cops

  • I have yet to recieve any complaints. You can hear it outside, but not in anyone's house. Plus, I'm pretty busy now, so I don't set it off as often as I used to.
