  • bad when youre in a confined space.....

  • CO2 is useful because it leaves no residue like ABC and BC dry chemical units. CO2 is the most common extinguisher found in food processing plants. Also your typical BC powders like sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate (aka Purple-K) decompose into CO2 anyway at temps around 120C.

Lastly, gaseous agents tend to flood into cracks and crevices far better than foams or dry chemical agents. That is why CO2 or Halon is more effective at extinguishing engine bay fires than dry chemical.

  • Doesn't CO2 form condestion in electrical appliances?

  • Where do you buy one?

  • I've always heard that CO2 extinguishers will put out type-A fires, but they have so much force they tend to spread embers, and are thus not recommended for that purpose.

  • @DIVISION216: I managed to do it without any problems. Provided the extinguisher has been completely emptied nothing should blow up in your face. Take care though!

  • Any tips on how to be a fire extinguisher expert? I think by doing that I can be a hero.

  • @GoldenRatio i have the exact same question u just saved me from writing that thx lol mabye we just have to use google (sigh)

  • How do you take the valve off a CO2 fire extinguisher? I assume it's safe to do this when the extinguisher is empty...

  • since when do you recomend to use a co2 on a "B" fire.
