I mean, regardless of which you prefer, Otis' or Johnsons' version, fact is Shuggie wrote and layed this record down when he was 18. This shit was his vision and without it, the Brothers wouldn't have a platinum record. I agree that Quincy arranged one funky cover, shit is mad ill, but he was workin off of Shuggie Otis' vision.

I met Shuggie at CBS COLUMBIA RECORDING STUDIOs, when booked studio time and laid down the music, We were young, he a little younger than me, long curly afro and funky bell bottoms and cool shirt and big warm personality, He and his staff were in the studio for hours. I was an aspiring screenplay write with an eye on producing original and fresh African American films with mix cast and original content. We were all fired up and ready to produce new and original art and not tired bubble gum.
