Please listen also Sokolow's cd version on youtube, maybe you will enjoy more.
As far as Im concerned it seems not fair blaming a life record being too pathetic, - finally it depends on the atmosphere created by Sokolow in the concert which interpretation is right at that moment. And there were thrilling moments in Sokolows life performances that I will never forget: he is the best pianist I ve heard in my entire life.

@kennystevensviolin i agree, I believe the constant cresc. and decresc. are tugging and pulling at the melody too much. It's just too much. Although there's supposed to be contrast, because this makes the piece interesting, what he did was too much...
