Catch a glimpse of the rarity that is Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve on the Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland. As well as being home to thousands of seabird species -- which gather and nest mere feet away from visitors -- it's a destination rich in astonishing natural beauty, with sweeping expanses of lush grass and rugged coastlines, wrapped in sunshine-bathed fog.

Astounding nature – walk up to thousands of Northern gannets

Thank you for sharing the natural wonder of this very special reserve.

  • 24,000 Northern gannet, 20,000 black-legged kittiwake, 20,000 common murre, and 2,000 thick-billed murre. In addition, more than 100 pairs of razorbill, more than 60 pairs of black guillemot, plus double-crested and great cormorant, and Northern fulmar nest there.

  • Love NL, but was half expecting those seagull to poop on them
