Note: I realize there are audio issues in these early vids but I have uploaded newer vids with better audio. As a result, please do not comment on this video anymore because it is outdated and I'm only leaving it up to save the comments that were posted on it. I will try and re-upload it at a later date with the audio gain increased. Thank you.

John Pearce 600L Lights Phosphor Bronze http://bit.ly/r8e9Pp about 2 weeks after putting them on. Pretty satisfied with them for a non-coated brand of strings. Great response and tone is still consistent.

  • *Psst* Why are we whispering?

  • @rourin

My then wife (now ex) was in the other room sleeping on these earlier videos, so I had to be quiet.

  • I tried these strings on my Martin D-42 and they are the worst strings I have used in my life. They sounded real dead. The old worn out strings sounded better. I could not even bring myself to play them, and the next day I took them off.

  • Like I said before, they went dead on me after one show. That's what the real test is. Every string sounds good when you first put them on; it's after the field testing that you realize if they'll hold up or not.

You definitely need to try the Elixir or D'addario EXP's next. They won't let you down. Elixir's are a little brighter at first, but they seem to hold their tone for longer than the EXP's. Either way, you should get 2-3 months out of them as they're coated. Coated strings rock!

  • I just put a new review of the Elixirs on YouTube. This one is better because it's at full volume. Compare it with my D'Addario review and see what sounds best for you. Good luck.

  • Update: I tried these on my Fender Malibu and they're pretty dead after one show. Guess it depends on the guitar! I still say Elixir's all the way, baby! After that, I'd recommend D'Addario EXPs

  • It's a Morgan Monroe Cutaway. Can't remember the exact model number.

  • What guitar is that? D-42?
