With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, San Pedro High softball was potentially facing the end of their three-year reign as City Section champion in the 2009 City Section softball finals, trailing Banning, 6-3.. but here comes freshman Chloe Oro to aid the Pirates. First, Oro sliced a tricky pop up then beats out a throw from the charging Christina Chavez at shortstop, allowing Victoria Garcia to score on the play. Then Kailee Cuico inexplicably popped up the next pitch, but even more shocking, Banning second baseman Liz Melendrez cut in front of right fielder Eileen Rivera and dropped the ball, allowing both Oro and Bryana Simpson to score the tying runs, and it was Oro, on first base at the time of Cuico's pop up, who slid in with the tying run.
