After attending a magic show, where Poirot insists there is always a simple explanation to the conjurer's tricks, Inspector Japp challenges him to solve the disappearance of Mr. Matthew Davenheim, without leaving the confines of his apartment. Davenheim had vanished during a short walk from his country home to the village where he went to post a package. Soon after, Mrs. Davenheim realizes that their wall safe has been broken into and that all of her valuable jewels are missing. Using Captain Hastings to interview various witnesses and suspects, Poirot pieces together the reasons for the man's disappearance as well as the motivation behind the crime.

  • @craigberry007- no love. i wasnt referring to Brett as a bum, on the show. i was talking about another character on an episode of his show, who PLAYED a bum.

  • In every episode that the "villain" insults Poirot it reminds me of how the villains used to insult the Scooby Doo gang for catching them :p

  • @MARVIA35 That's back to front! Mr Brett was an educated 'bum' that made so much money due to his 'quirky' persona that he eventually became very wealthy. He purchased a house, got married, and lived a normal respectable life. However when he went to work it was to begging he went.

  • @IChewieK9 it happened to me too. just right click the vid, select stop download then left click the vid again. it should start working again

  • u know, this same thing happened in sherlock holmes w/ jeremy brett. a well known financier regularly disguised himself as a bum and crook. he panhandled and quoted shakespeare on the wall street district of england. he ended up making a tidy some in that disguise. every1 thought he was doing well but in reality it was the opposite

  • What a great episode! :) thanks for uploading Poirot.

  • Video sticks and will not progress after 07:58. Can you fix this?

  • Here is an original idea. I am very fond of both Miss Lemon and Miss Oliver. Wouldn't it be cool to see the two of them team up to solve a murder together?

  • This is obviously Agatha Christie's version of "The Man with the Twisted Lip" (Sherlock Holmes)! Great episode!

  • @victoriaindigo But isn't it so entertaining to see them actually confront these people in person? HAHA. If L and O had these direct confrontations...now that would have been "Must See TV"....lol.

  • I'm so used to watching Law and Order where the "line-up" is separated by the 2 way mirror!

  • Damn Belgians!

  • WOW he knew Poirot's nationality!!

  • that was lovely hurling, lovely hurling

  • Oooooh that was a good one.
