  • @ThatsABiggon: It was realeased in 1929.

  • I have to learn this in 5th grade music class!!!!

  • @marieashlange, Dude our singing doesn't come from hardship! That's some BS white people created to try an explain the obvious differences in our voices. We sing with soul & grit in many African groups far older than any Blues or Blues singing. That's where it comes from not hardship & certainly not America. Listen to the Masai & singers from Mali, etc. Those are the roots of the Blues.

  • @BRUITBLEU, how could this have been 1945 when she died in 1937? Do you mean it aired in 1945?

  • I have to say "black" singers are fabulous blues singers and comes from a long line of hardships and blues was a style of music created by African Americans. I am a huge fan of the blues and many other kinds of music and I feel that by EVERYONE participating in EVERYONE ELSE"S music, culture and lives we can better understand where everyone comes from and why they are where they are. Love everyone and accept everyone for who they are.
