German shepherd showing off a few of his tricks.

edit- Teaching this dog this trick was very easy. When he gets told to bleib (stay), he sits perfectly still, intent on me, waiting for the next command. It was very easy to tell him bleib, put something on his nose, and stand in front of him. Eventually, I started telling him "discipline" and moving around to make it look like a real trick. He figured out extremely quickly that he isn't supposed to keep watching me when I say "discipline" as opposed to a bleib.

Discipline isn't a real trick per say, it's just an extension of functional training.

Thanks for the suggestion. I like the confinement idea, but as a 2 month old puppy, it still whines a lot as when I put her away from me.

I'll give it a try though.

You could try moving it's poo to another location. Our male GSD will poo over by bushes and trees instead of the middle of the yard. Once it smells it's own smell over near that area, it will probably learn to go over there instead of going everywhere else! Or you can try taking your pup over to the area you want it to poo in and confine it there until it does it's thing. If they walk off and start to go somewhere else, pick them up and move them back to the area you want it to go in.

  • 0:31 i can already taste it.!! lol.

Thing is, my parents don't want me to keep her inside because they can't cope with the mess and smell it makes. I have to let it sleep outside as a puppy, which is really freaking horrible.

I regret buying her now given these conditions.

I bought her a 36" crate and a bed so its more comfortable, and so that I can potty train it better. The problem I have right now is that it just poos anywhere it wants in the yard. How can I confine its poop to a single area?

  • Also, if your pup likes treats, keep some treats in your pocket. When the dog goes outside, give it one. It'll learn that going outside is rewarded, whereas going inside is not. :) Hope this helps!

Are you using puppy pads at all? If you are, I recommend not using them. Because while it teaches your dog that it has a spot in the house that it's okay to eliminate on, it also teaches them that it's okay to go in the house. Take your pup out every hour on the hour. Follow it around until it does it's business. Then when it does, praise it like hell! Make your neighbors think you're insane with high pitched, "GOOD BOY! GOOD GIRL! That's a GOOD go potty outside!".
