In the opening match of the 1987 Greater Los Angeles Open, Pete McCordic would end a long drought of perfect games on ABC's Pro Bowlers Tour telecasts and shoot 300 to win $100,000. He faces Wayne Webb, who bowls a pretty good game himself. Part 1 of 2.
I remember this telecast. I was very happy for Pete. I give him a lot of credit. He was the first non- winner in the PBA ever to win $100,000 for the televised perfect game. I think this experience helped his confidence as he went on to win his first title in '88, winning from the top seed position; defeated Rey Perez, 258-230 (he finished that game with 9 in a row). That same year he went on to win his second title in the Miller Lite Challenge, averaging 240 against all four of his opponents.

"Heaven In 87", that's what Pete said...and indeed it was. I've watch this on Classic Bowling many times. I was so glad to find it on YOUTUBE. Please do not take this down. I have it in my YouTube "Save". I refer to it weekly!
Appreciatively,

Pete's style always looked weird to me. He could hood the hell out of the ball, but his arm swing could cross his body and come up dead middle of his forehead. He was a cool guy though. I met him several tourney's and just all around nice guy.

Webb's little slip up before the end of this part, was this before PBA instituted the shot clock?
