@ianuk2008 It was billed as one half League, one half Union. Anyway in `96 Bath were the only Union side in England who could play any rugby. Thats why they were on SKY Sports every week. Noone else was worth looking at.

Having got hammered in the 'League' version, Bath had to cheat and play the nancy union game instead of having a fun game. League anytime for me

Sparta, eastmond plays for St.Helens and has a running game suited to RL, he'll struggle in union. He's no Jason Robinson.
No doubt the RU team would make a proper fist of it now, it was a pretty woeful effort on their part struggling to beat a team containing 40 year old coaches. That Wigan team was ordinAry and way past their peak.
If they played now RU would be too powerful an steamroller RL at union. At RL, union would be too slow to compete.

bearing in mind how recent the switch to professionalism was when this game took place, its not surprising the long time fully prfesional wigan destroyed a bath club taht had only just turned profesional, i'd love to see this again now, be very interesting, just wait till next year, once bath have kyle eastmond from wigan, and when olly barkley's leg isnt broken. get well soon olly :'(

What a lod of shit, Bath only beat Wigan by 20 points in this game, Union is utter shit, they had to givde a penalty try so they could score? And they went for a drop goal to go 3-0 up? Fucking shitbags
