Therapeutic Justice and Drug Courts: Practice and Theory Seminar

On November 10, 2009, U.S. Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey Rosinek, who for ten years oversaw the Miami-Dade county drug court, participated in a seminar on Therapeutic Justice and Drug Courts: Practice and Theory held in São Paulo. Speaking via DVC from Miami to more than 90 judges, prosecutors, public attorneys, police officials, health professionals, NGO representatives, students and the media, Judge Rosinek explained how the Drugs Courts work in the United States, emphasizing how the integrated roles of all levels of law enforcement and judicial offices with social and health services of make it possible to offer lesser drug-related offenders the opportunity to participate in a rehabilitation program instead of incarcerating them.
