Parallels between Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez: The Creation of a Civilian (Popular) Militia

Friday, September 5, 2008. Special for RUEDALO.ORG. Miami, Florida.- Barack Obama seems to be a third world socialist leader rather than a presidential candidate headed for the White House.

In this video, it is clearly shown what we are talking about as Barack Obama presents an idea similar to the one Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez is implanting in his South American nation: A popular or civilian militia ready to defend his revolution.

Just as Barack Obama's mentor Alinsky teaches his pupils, Hugo Chavez used the free electoral system to get in power in December 1998. However, he has managed to stay in power thanks to a continuous electoral fraud in order to implant his "pacific" revolution in his country.

Both, Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez recognize the need to have a civilian force ready to fight the enemies of the revolution; that is, their political opponents; a civilian or popular militia at the service of their personal political project instead of the good of the people of the nation they are supposed to serve.

please? you really should read more about Venezuela in the time 80's to the end of 90's.

The times which led to so much poverty and unequality. which then led to masacres from the Oligarchs. which then led to coups and finally a new constitution in an attempt to prevent such things from hapening.

We may argue if he is a revolutionario. But for me, the poor people of Venezuela are.

The difference is the use of the militias. Venezuela are open to imperialism, economic sabotage, foreign mercenaries and hostile local governments. Just look what happened the Allende government in Chile in the 1970s. Allende did not have full (if any) control of the military nor a popular workers' militia. Look what happened. A North American militia or talk of one is for further recruits for foreign adventures, imperialism and neo-colonialism. Or perhaps just rhetoric, to gain vote support.
