On January 6, 2012, I went over to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to shoot some airplanes. I got one Qantas Airbus A380 landing (Qantas flight QF11 from Sydney) and another A380 taking off. The one I labeled as Qantas flight QF107 to New York is probably incorrect. It is more likely that it was a flight to Australia, but it may have been unpublished on the Qantas website that day. Anyway, it was interesting to see two A380s at the airport at once.

  • Hi, Great video!

QF107 LAX-JFK actually operates as an A330-200 (SYD-AKL-LAX-JFK). This departure would have been either a MEL or SYD departure.

  • @benwilliamzVL You're probably right. I tried looking up the departures that day on the Qantas website but the only one they had around that time was to NY. Maybe this one just wasn't published for some reason.

  • Clarity of this video is quite good; what kind of camera are you using?

  • @hmcdonnell23 Thanks! I used a Canon T1i DSLR for this video. It takes pretty good videos but only 720p (not 1080p). I also added a little bit of sharpening when I edited it. The lighting was also really good which helps too.

  • @SchmaveUCSB Nice vid! although, you shuould rephrase your description lol. Me and my girlfriend found it hillarious that you said you went to the airport to SHOOT some airplanes....

  • @turbofan450 lol, yes, shoot with my camera, haha.

  • Amazing, to think that something weighing over half a billion tonnes can seem to float so effortlessly in the air!!

  • @qantaspilot95 QF A380's don't fly anywhere else ex LAX. The most likely scenario is that this is QF94 or QF12 running late. A delyed QF departure is the most likely explanation.

  • @benwilliamzVL not likely the qantas A380's leave at night

  • @SchmaveUCSB It could have been a very delayed departure to Australia. Either that or they switched the aircraft for the day.

  • 2 of them. very nice spot!

  • What an incredible quality this video. It's fantastic!!

  • @SchmaveUCSB flightaware (dot) com could easily solve your aircraft use questions... if there's a change in equipment, you would see it on that website.

  • i remember my flight from taipei had just landed and i saw 2 qantas A380's sitting on the tarmac.

  • Welcome to L.A. folks, the time is tomorrow. lool
