I know some asshole will say "Muscle is mostly water, so losing water means you lose muscle." In a sense that's true. But when I say you can gain or lose over 10 pounds without gaining or losing an ounce of muscle or fat, I'm talking about the actual muscle. The contractile tissue. The protein. And I'm talking about the actual fatty tissue. Not the fat + the water the fat is holding.

Weigh yourself in the morning after you pee to get a good idea of how your "real" weight is progressing.

You can't know for 100% certain unless you get a bod-pod test where they weigh you in a tank of water and do some other stuff.

You can get a good idea of whether or not what you're gaining is fat or muscle by (1) How you look (2) If you're getting stronger. If you're putting on muscle, that muscle will make you stronger.

Also, water weight is a HUGE thing to consider. Your weight can change a lot without you losing a pound of muscle or fat.
