In this video, I take an existing parametric simulation and modify it to evaluate a new design parameter. I want to quickly determine the optimal thickness of the part in order to keep the displacement of the lower tab below 0.1 mm. Using the parametric simulation tools in Inventor, I am able to easily evaluate three different design options to determine the optimal thickness. Finally, I evaluate a fourth design option by simply typing my needed value into the dialog box.

  • do not you know about stresses singularities in angles? Have you performed convergence control?

  • @tka400 This video was intended to be a quick minute-long overview of Inventor's parametric FEA technology; as a result, we didn't have time to cover Inventor's built-in convergence control. This analysis was performed with automatic p refinements, but a second pass with tighter refinement tolerance and automatic h refinements would be necessary in a production environment. A small fillet would likely need to be added when using the tighter tolerance.
