Well, You are about to see a Restored Hot Air Fan , 1914 design that was rusted , seized, bent and everything else. There was about 200 odd hours on this project, where 60 odd hours was on the motor, The piston was locked in the cylinder, the cylinder bore was hand honed , the nuts and bolts all had to be heated to be undone, the piston was re bedded to the bore. All the shaftshad to be re polished and brass engine parts. There was a very small hole in the heater tube , that I discovered that was silver soldered and the motor was continously pulled apart to get it to run this well. It will run till the tank of metho runs out . The pitch of the blades are the next step , to assist in cooling the cylinder as the person as well. The camers has amplified the noise, as it sounds like an old printing press flat out . However once you see the piston moving up and down from the top view, it is a lot quiter and more of the sounfd it makes. thanks For watching the video Cheers Pete Australia South Australia

  • This one took a while , as i joined a fan society over in the states . I never got my emails answered , So i stuck it up the forum , and said " well may be we have something else besides THE CUP you guys havent got , and dont know. The day after , I got an email from the president of the club , with a few contacts , as I had some questions of the funsction , and heating problems. Now the fan works for a good 2 hours on METHO , and just runs , and has that smell of a steam engine.

  • Maybe need work on the cams 'lil bit. Will reduce the noise & inprove effiency. Aren't it s'pose to be quiet?

  • Hi Cyonk, It is quiter , as at that stage , it the knock has been taken out , with over size shaft, where it was oval, dont forget 1914 , it runs like a swiss watch , just didnt update tou tube .....Thanks for looking , and comments...Pete

  • Woah, how do you turn it off? o_O

  • Hi Kiosk , Thanks for looking. You just simply wind the wick down , the same principle as a kero lamp. The more speed , you increase the wick for larger flame, you must also not have any soot , as this will deposit through out your room. There s a few other videos , search '' what the butler saw '' an old coin arcade machine '' , '' Aeolian gramophone '' and also '' rexonola gramophone '' it is under possie for memory , I am a collector restorer Cheers Pete Australia , Adelaide

  • Looks like a La Teutonia hot air fan.

  • gorgeous!!!

  • Wow, this is really sweet.

Though it is considered 'old' technology, I reckon these would be popular if they were to make a comeback.

    It's also a fine conversation piece :) .

  • Very nice hot air fan. It is a unique fan 5*****.
