I like it when the train engineers say hello. Here is a commuter train in New Jersey bound for Manhattan.

  • Typically the person driving a heavy train is called the engineer. For trolleys & subways, it is often "motorman".

  • Thanks!! Judging by the quality of your channel you seem to know what you are talking about, so I changed the title. I've been looking at your videos, great work!

  • I actually like the disign of this train, except fo the back, which is the front in this case, not very stylish. And you know.. I've never been able to figure out the purpose of those bells. I guess to alert people of the train passing??

  • Is that Elizabeth or Linden?

  • That is so nice to get a greeting!

  • These are NJT bi level coaches. They are push pull coaches just like the shoreliners and comets. The engineer will turn on the bell if the train is approaching the station or if he or she is signaling something or someone along the tracks. I believe it is also on when getting close to railroad crossings. Ditch lights are flashing when nearing the station.

  • USA type hard design reminds me of toy trains sold here in Spain, TREMPAYA brand.

    (I'm sorry, it's a Google translation)

and the sound of the bell must be digitized, is not it?
