@aarrmmeenndd100 Well, TVC is not always accomplished by making the nozzle rotate. There are other ways of diverting the exhaust. So I don't know what TVC the X-36 used, but since it has no vertical tail fins it must have had 3D TVC.
@aarrmmeenndd100 I like XB-70 because it has a cool design, but most importantly, because it was revolutionary for its time. It offered performances that no other aircraft at its time could offer. It was designed during the '50s and it could reach a speed of over mach 3. It was an excellent weapon. The Russians were terrified of it.
As for the X-36, yes, it has great performances. Great maneuverability. It will not go into service, but something very similar will.
@aarrmmeenndd100 Well, there are other companies that make good designs as well besides Northrop Grumman. McDonell Douglas designed the F-15, which is a good aircraft. In my opinion, North American Aviation was the best aircraft designer the US ever had. They developed designs that were far ahead their time. Like XF-108 and the XB-70 Valkyrie bomber.
@aarrmmeenndd100 Well, the thing is that fighters that look good most of the times have good performances as well. So yeah, you could say that looks is important too.
@aarrmmeenndd100 Well, I'm also interested in the performances they offer. For instance, the F-18 looks cooler than the F-14, but the F-14 was better. It could each higher speeds, it had a bigger range, bigger weapons payload. That's what interests me into an aircraft.
@aarrmmeenndd100 Well, you and me are different then. I only like the fighters that provide the best performances. Big range, high maneuverability, high weapons payload. I'm not saying that I like that they kill people, but they must offer great performances. Something that the US doesn't come up with anymore. Fighters like the F-15, F-14 or the F-111 tactical bomber. Replacing the F-111 with the F-15E was big mistake.
@Mr912Lancer Hmm... I didn't know that. So that's why many times, the flames from the exhausts of the aircraft look blue.

@StiviGun1 Its like any flame, the more oxygen its burning up, the hotter and bluer it is.

@aarrmmeenndd100 I have no idea why the F-22's afterburners are blue. It probably has something to do with the fuel it uses. I don't know.
