After his success during the latest edition of CaDance, Samir Calixto will be rounding off and presenting his complete Winterreise Tetralogy at the 2012 Holland Dance Festival. The fourth part, Zero Kelvin, will premiere there, accompanied by the three existing pieces (Névé, Firn and Glacier). With this tetralogy Calixto closes off his years-long investigation of Schubert's Winterreise. Dance, song, live piano and poetry give shape to the symbolic journey of man, on which he is constantly transformed. It is a journey in which the absence of illusions, expectations and assumptions about happiness and fullfilment is danced as a rite de passage to man's ultimate transmutation.
The complete cycle will be performed for the first time by Rudolf Jansen - one of the most important lieder pianists of our times - and the Icelandic tenor Eyjólfur Eyjólfsson. Besides Isabelle Chaffaud and Calixto reprising their roles, the tetralogy brings the Brazilian actress Denise Cecchi, new in the cast.
