at 42:44, if the barb took one step south he would of had a good chance of razing a city.

@Chris67132 There is no sea, only land, with a few Finnish style lakes.
I found the map a real slog as I had difficulty getting some AI's to capitulate due to the siege losses I'd take assaulting all their hill cities. And because its a land map the AI have lots more places to build. Definitely not like pangea or fractal (btw you don't do fractal much either, except when there about 5 civs on your landmass making it like pangea anyway.) Still thumbs up overall though.

Hmm just played another highlands map using AbZero's knight rush technique and finally won one - jeez what a slog ! I had to vassal ALL the AI's as the game refused to give me a dom win with about 63.2% in the land occupation slot.
Of course it did mean I got to watch the conquest win avi for the first time ever, so that was cool.
Not sure I agree about the level or two higher, but I really really hope I'm wrong about that ;-)

Highlands distributes more total land tiles vs water. Consider adding some AI, or you're playing a level or two higher than you are normally.

Nice opening, as usual. I have a request. Thanks to your tips I'm getting 75% on Pangea at my level (emperor), but sucking badly on highlands.
Any chance of a highlands game from the maestro ??

Which do you think is faster? Bulbing or self teching?
@Chris67132
I retract my request for a highlands map now that I've won one, unless you know how to win one quickly.

@NegatorUK Should be more or less the same as any other map. A little slower if it has more then 1 continent. Maybe a slight slowdown because of all the hills while traveling in enemy territory.

Does justinian work well with this? Cataphracts are quite powerful, but he's not creative and has questionable starting techs.

@qpeterx Works well? No. Works? Yes.
