    What you see is called Chladni figures or Chladni patterns. You can Google the explanation, but just briefly - there is a loudspeaker or another source of constant vibrations under the black metal plate. At certain frequiencies, standing waves (again, for the definition, use Google, my post would have to be too long) occur in the metal plate. In the areas of nodes, the white dust gathers, whereas the areas of antinodes are cleaned by the vibrations.

    Wanna know what's more fun than science??? Having your mind completely overloaded by a science video... and then having someone add crucial information about the experiment, such as, how many transducers and how powerful, what materials, is that table salt, stuff like that. THAT would be REALLY fun. As it is, I probably won't be able to sleep, not knowing the details. That said... great video. Thanx
