We have a Shotokan Karate school where i live, and it's fun watching the local kids who do demonstrations of their chosen discipline.

Can't help thinking that a lot of it is show boating, and totally impracticle in the real field of battle? Just my opinion, don't make it right, or wrong.

If thai boxing is so crap, then why is it an almost essential skill to have, alongside Brazillian Jiu-Jistu, for a huge percentage of professional mixed martial arts fighters?

You do get some guys from a karate background, but they are few and far between.

muay thai is and always will be the best striking fight style after of course muay boran TKD is impractical against anyone who doesn't also do TKD lets face it this guy got owned and the thai fighter (pun) didn't use punches knees or elbows if he had closed the distance at the start and clinched the othe guy it would have KO'd him in a sec

i agree, i am a Filipino from the Philippines. i respect all nationalities own martial arts too. its just not easy to say things in absolute conclusion. Thailand represents the whole or the face of Southeast Asia and its culture and that includes its martial arts. Filipinos have saYAW ng kamataYAN (Yaw-Yan) similar to that of muay thai but its hybrid and a little bit modern in form and style. but we also have Sikaran which is similar to Taekwondo.

all im saying is muay thai is an absoloutly amazing martial art or i wouldn't have studied it for 6 yrs but tkd is great aswell it just takes longer to learn

why is everyone hating on tkd if you research this thai boxing is one of the most easy to learn martial art it is also power based and a big emphasis on clinching . but anyone who studies tkd knows they also use knees elbows and punches just not in european or american wtf , itf or tagb . in real tkd they have great control efective kicks and brillian fitness baisicly

I do not believe for a minute that this guy was the cream of the crop in the Taekwondo world. He leads at least 3 times with a front leg side kick. Almost all of his moves are anticipated by Cheng. His base is weak, as is any TKD practitioner in my opinion. I am not hating TKD as it is my main discipline. However dancing around and trying to be elusive is clearly useless when your power is ineffective and all of your attacks can be seen coming.

TKD is great but dont use it like this fool does

I feel like this is pokemon. Taekwondo is grass type and Muay Thai fire type. Muay Thai does critical hits on TKD, haha. TKD guy is mainly good at long range, but MT guy catches all his kicks and TKD guy can't get close to try to win with punches, because MT guy might use knees and elbows and what not.

Muay Thai is Thailand traditional fighting. We use it for protect our country before Taekwondo,so please be respect other countries cultures. Dont take our tradition to Korean
