"The Barber Farm" tells the story of Doris Marshall's struggle to decide what to do with her farm after her death. Her children are at odds--some want to sell it for development, others want to conserve the land. Doris is nearly 90, and has lived on the farm for more than 50 years. She and her husband were dairy farmers, and her children also farmed for a while. At the time of the movie, the land has been unused for more than a decade. Even before Doris and her family lived there, the Barber Farm had a storied history. It's named for the Civil War veteran who first owned it, and has been an agritourism destination since the 1800s. The movie follows Doris for and her family for a summer. She tends her garden and contemplates her legacy, while her children reminisce about the farm's past, and debate it's future.
