"George Lucas Retires" From what, he was barley active in anything other than Star Wars. IMO, he hasn't made a decent film since a new hope.

@Xenda So you won't call Empire, Jedi, Indiana Jones "decent"? Don't forget, even though he was the director of those films, he was 100% in control of them and made every single decision that went into them. Listen to Spielberg talk about it.

@aBoxfulOfVids True, but as I already said, he was 100% in creative control of all those movies and either made or approved every single decision that went into them. Listen to Steven Spielberg talk about it sometime.

It does suck to see George Lucas go, but lets face it, he's made himself successful, made more money than god, and has worked very hard all this time. If it wasn't for George Lucas, I wouldn't have had a huge interest in movies. I'm more than grateful that he was there for the movie industry. His studios made not only my favorite movies, but they made the best sound effects, and good videogames. I think that whoever says anything negative about George is just a jealous prick.

@MovieBlogTV Your giving Lucas to much credit for cinema. He has had some good ideas, but wile he is the the man people think of when it comes to creating the original Star Wars, when in actuality he didn't do all that much. He did direct the first Star Wars, but not all that well. That film was really saved in editing. And everything else was just his story but with different (and better) screen writers.

I don't hate the man, but people wrongly talk as if he single handedly changed cinema.

@BrightSkyFilms Even though he's retiring out of great achievements, he's even said that he's retiring out of sour taste - for people hate him for more of what he tries to see improvements to his own intellectual property than appreciate him for his great legacy in the film industry.

I agree with you to a certain extent, John. I do think that special effects wouldn't be what they are today without Lucas, but I don't think Lucas should get all the credit for ILM and the advancement of special effects. Film making has always been a collaborative process and there were a lot of people who worked with Lucas that deserve a lot of credit as well.

@Xenda The guy just finished explaining what he is retiring from, He was the head of Industrial light & Magic which helped create the special effects in movies such as Jurassic Park, all the Star Wars films, and many more. He helped create Indiana Jones, and he helped the advancements in sound and picture in films as well, so yeah he has done a lot and has something to retire from.

george, thank you for creating star wars thank you for indiana jones and thank you for making movies so awesome. You have done some bad things but you have done so much for movies and everyone loves you whether they think so or not

But he didn't make the sequels of Star Wars. there were meant to be nine films altogether.
