Maybe if Lou Reed isn't up to anything, you can get him to come in. He'd have no problem covering Beat Happening. The music sounds a little closer to REM though.

You should try and get some people together. Anyone with a pulse can form a beat happening cover band. That's what's so awesome about beat happening.
