I dropped out of AARP 20 years ago, back then it was a spin off of the Teacher Unions. Know what those teachers didn't care about the kids and the AARP doesn't give a dam about the elderly today, Nothing has changed.

That organization is a political leftist bunch of hypocrites. As far as the COLA's you mentioned, those stopped quite some time back, because according to BHO, there isn't any inflation anymore. Obama stopped the cost of living on Social Security and Disability,- 2 years ago.

The AARP went along with it.

My understanding is there is no money in the Social Security Trust Fund to yield more interest, if interest rates go up.

Dick, I would love for someone to explain to me why a) the Social Security lockbox doesn't exist, b) why Social Security funds are considered part of the General Fund, and c) why are Social Security benefits still taxable. Maybe if some of the wonderful Democratic party concepts are done away with, Social Security might be a little more secure?

There is no money in either the social security or Medicare trust funds. The government spent it all. Medicare is 47% short each year (and rising) and social security will never be able to fully fund itself. I recently calculated what my social security and Medicare "contributions" would have generated if they had been invested like a real pension. The amount was over $1 million, and I'm still short of retirement. These are Ponzi schemes with zero investment backing them up.
