Taco - Puttin' On The Ritz ( HQ 1080p HD Upscale )

Taco Ockerse (born July 21, 1955), better known by his stage name Taco, is an Indonesian-born Dutch singer and entertainer who started his career in Germany.

"Puttin' on the Ritz" is a popular song written and published in 1929 by Irving Berlin and introduced by Harry Richman in the musical film Puttin' on the Ritz (1930). The title derives from the slang expression "putting on the Ritz," meaning to dress very fashionably. The expression was inspired by the swanky Ritz Hotel.

In 1981, Taco signed his first record contract with Polydor (Germany) for two record releases, whereon he released his first single, "Puttin' on the Ritz". Not long after, in 1982, his single, "Puttin' on the Ritz" was picked up by RCA for US release. The single was widely played throughout the U.S. by late summer of 1983 eventually peaking at no. 4 in September, 1983 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as no. 1 on the Cashbox charts. It includes a tap dance solo in the middle to honor Astaire. Also included in the recording are parts of "Always", "White Christmas", "Alexander's Ragtime Band", "There's No Business Like Show Business" (all written by Irving Berlin), and "Gotta Dance" from Singin' in the Rain.

Although the single eventually earned him a Gold-certification in USA for selling over one million copies, it was Taco's only top-40 hit in the U.S. In 1983 and 1984, he toured extensively throughout Europe. While the single "Puttin' on the Ritz" topped the charts in Sweden and New Zealand, it entered the Top 5 in numerous countries including Norway, Austria and Canada. His subsequent album release of After Eight was released in over 40 countries and managed to reach no. 4 in Norway, no. 5 in Canada, no. 11 in Austria, no. 17 in New Zealand and no. 23 in U.S. and no. 59 in Germany. The album earned Taco number of Gold certifications including one in Finland for selling over 25,000 copies.

Taco's version of the song was ranked #53 in VH1's 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 80s special.

If any or you have seen my upload for Maria McKee's 'Show Me Heaven' then you will know that there are some really rotten quality music videos out there and it takes almost a miracle to make it look good. Back in the days when HD didn't exist I guess they just didn't care if they broadcasted any old crap because you wouldn't be able to see how bad it really was anyway with poor resolution television sets. Well these days it is a different story. All the ugliness of shoddy, bad quality videos, sticks out like a sore thumb on todays TV's and monitors.

My friends I have pushed this rotten quality video as far as I can. It has been deblurred and refocused as much as possible before the image started to look bizarre. The shocking noise levels made me wince and it took 3 long slow passes to scrub this messy junk from the image while trying to preserve the image detail. Color and lighting was total bollocks and I had to correct it throughout the video. In the middle of all this convoluted crap I sharpened and enhanced detail as much as possible. The end result is a great improvement over any source file you try to get your hands on.

Audio was the only thing that didn't make me want to scream. The audio was excellent although a bit out of phase so I had to correct that before normalizing it.

After comparing the original sources for this video doing the rounds and what's available online I can safely tell you that my upload is the best quality you are going to get. Enjoy it! :-)

Be aware that some evil people will download my clip restorations, upload them to their own channel and then try to take credit for my hard work. They will even go so far as to say I stole it from them! What goes around comes around and they are storing up some very bad 'karma' for themselves. While I do not own the rights to the music or the videos themselves it is my hard work in restoring these old gems for your enjoyment that is being compromised by any such attempts at smearing my reputation. If you spot these people then let them know that you are aware that they are nothing but liars and losers.
