@Nubnut that's like comparing David and Goliath, Scenes was their Magnum Opus, nothing is going to be abl to top it, but Train of Thought is still at the top of my list. Awake I'm not very familiar just because I don't think old DT (Images to Infinity) really aged all that well.
-
@hginct Ahh yes, as a metal album it's very good, a bit too wanky for my tastes but some of Portnoy's writing especially is quite good on it. But as a prog album it's pretty terrible, especially when compared to albums like Awake and Scenes from a Memory.
-
@Nubnut I rather enjoyed Train of Thought, it was a lot heavier than some of their other albums, but before listening to Dream Theater, some of my favorite bands included bands like Slayer and Anthrax. So I naturally enjoyed the heavier side of Dream Theater.
-
@YourFallenComrade Granted Train of Thought is also one of the worst possible examples for Dream Theater...
-
@YourFallenComrade Yes, they all sounded the same. It was again, the bare minimal of music, repetitive stuff, really. Rap and stuff like techno have more variation and those are two notoriously repetitive genres.
-
@hginct The hilarious part is the fact that you're stating YOUR opinion as fact, and it's entirely alright for you.
Your comments have been nothing but kissing their ass while stating "OMG THEY AWESOME OMG OMG YEAH MAN IF YOU DISAGREE FUCK YOU I CAN VOICE MY OPINION THEY ARE GREAT DONT YOU EVER VOICE THE OPINION THEY ARE BAD OMG OMG MAN DOUBLE STANDARD".
-
@DevilSpree I smell troll, but I'll make a comment. Haven't you listened to like any of their other songs? In the name of God? Or even, any song off the album Train of Thought?
-
@DevilSpree I believe Dream Theater is good music, if you don't think so, that's ok, but don't go and criticize me or anyone else for liking a band you don't. Your comments on this video are becoming nothing but trashing Dream Theater and claiming your opinion as fact. thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy being blocked.
-
@hginct The fact in their 20 years of making music they made two good songs (even then, one is still vastly superior to the other) is pretty sad.
Systematic Chaos was quite literally one of the worst things I ever had the displeasure of listening to. It's basically the same things OVER AND OVER again for 99 minutes per song.
It's QUALITY music, alright. Very QUALITY stuff.
(also, I can't say someone is wrong for liking bad stuff, but it's okay for you to say I'm wrong for DISLIKING?)
-
@DevilSpree one song does not define a musical career, especially when your band has made almost a dozen full albums. Dream Theater is my personal favorite and although they have a few missteps, they have been producing quality work for 20 years. you have every right to disagree, but don't just call someone wrong for disagreeing with you.
Cynic shits all over Dream Theater

@toymasheenSH I like Cynic, but Dream Theater is my all time favorite, for very personal reasons. a lot of thier songs speak to me on a personal level. I listen to Honor Thy Father and I say "that reminds me of my dad." I listen to Veils of Maya or Evolutionary Sleeper, I here a song I like, but not really totally connect to. That is why I absolutely love Dream Theater. If you disagree with me, ok, that's nice, but saying any band "shits" on another is disrespectful to music itself.*blocked*
