    Well, this seems logical: Joker got caught and courted, receive capital punishment for killing too many people. Commissioner Gordon worsen Joker's execution as a revenge for disabling his daughter, Barbara Gordon (Batgirl).

    This would fit perfectly in an actually DC Batman storyline (without the gore, head explosion, and laughter in the end).
