Visa Veto

Hi Guys, we went to the US Embassy in London to apply for Dominika's visa so that we can take our honeymoon in Las Vegas but, sadly we were unsuccessful.

Something to do with "providing insufficient evidence of our intention to return to the UK once your trip has ended." This is all because Dominika is Polish. Crazy! They have yet to tell us what is required, obviously marrying an Englishman and both of us working in the UK is not enough. Apparently people travel to the US on holiday and just ... vanish! So, instead of the bright lights of Vegas we will are going to soak up the culture of Paris and Rome instead!

I hope you both enjoyed your Franco-Italian honeymoon. American Immigration Officers can be annoying and seem bound by silly rules.

Probably the dumb US State department thinks Poles should only come on a tour group. Besides Brites don't need a visa to visit the USA but they still require Poles to have a visa.

Thanks for your comment. That is true, I can travel under the visa waiver scheme, unfortunately my wife can not. It is their loss, we will spend our holiday somewhere else!

I think they're afraid of North Dakota becoming a Polish colony or something equally weird. I met a lot of Russians in Chicago of all places on one trip. I'm echoing your "why not?"

Canadians and Americans belong to very different political species...

We were gutted but we won't let them have the satisfaction, we will go to Europe instead. Your Canadian govenment changed the rules and allowed Poles to enter under the visa waiver program, so why can't the Americans?:(
