Fully animated in Technicolor, "Big Tim" was a sales film made for the Timken roller bearing company by the UPA (United Productions of America) cartoon studio in 1949. Stan Freberg provides the narration in this rarely seen film. Rail fans take note.

  • Robert Cannon is one of the aniamtors on this short. He does the scenes at 2:21-2:23 and also 2:59-10:32.

  • @PunkyBear36 I've spent a lot of years researching the work of Robert Cannon, and I don't think he worked on this short at all. I can however spot animation by Paul Smith, Art Babbitt, Grim Natwick, Pat Mathews and Willy Pyle.

  • At about 1:58, he passes right through a parked boxcar. what the fuck

  • @PunkyBear36 any advice for a young animator?

  • Oh dear, my mistake. You're probably right; if this is from 1949, then Cannon would have gone to MGM by this point. Figures Pat Matthews is in here, though.
