This is exactly why I love the 757. One of the best hot and high performers.

The engine sounds awesome.

I drive past midway a lot. And still don't understand how a big aircraft such as a 757 could takeoff on midways short runways. The 737s from southwest barely miss the airport fence taking off.

@gokumalo As others have pointed out, 757's powered by Rolls Royce engines have a very distinctive sound upon take off roll and initial climb out, which is present in this video. Definately not a 733 (or any 737 variant) int this video.

dude, how did you miss the chicago skyline? it was coming right after that big turn.

Midway has one of the shortest runways in the U.S. It took about 20 seconds from the time this plane started flying down the runway to lift off. Other airports videos the same scenario takes about 30 - 40 seconds.

yep, Boeing never delivered a 300 to ATA in Palm Tree colors

I miss you, ATA. This video bring back a lot of memories - growing up in Chicago (2 miles from Midway) and working for ATA when I turned 18! Nothing could be better than a dawn takeoff on a warm summer morning from MDW on an ATA 757. :)

ATA , ZOOM . SilverJet etc ... Who else is gonna leave the skies !? How sad!
-
it whould be so cool for ATA to be back in bussiness. i miss them

I used to fly ATA from mdw to sfo on their 757's. Great airline and service and i miss them alot!
Haha, yeah indeed I was very surprised too at the acceleration. The video doesn't nearly do it justice, but when those things get full power - they freakin' gallop! :)
Keep in mind though, this was from MDW-LGA, so not too much fuel, and only 84 seats filled...so it was pretty light.
