Born in Walsall, Arthur Aldridge worked as a Saddle maker, encouraged by his workmates who used to hear him singing every day he went for an audition at the London Pavillion. Finding great success he joined Houdini's company and travelled to the U.S. There he became a member of the Gilbert and Sullivan festival co. gaining great fame in Broadway in the Gilbert and Sullivan revivals inc. 'The Mikado' and 'The Pirates of Penzance' , and touring by special train through many states in the USA. He then travelled through Canada and Australia appearing in many shows and travelling acts, his final resting place is Toowong cemetary, Brisbane, Australia. Arthur Aldridge 'The Walsall Tenor'.

I just visited Arthur's grave in Toowong Cemetery Brisbane Queensland Australia this morning. He was touring Australia and was killed in a car crash after a performance..
