IK+ or Internation Karate + is an excellently designed classic fighting game for the Atari ST and numerous other formats. It features intuitive controls, brilliant sound and music, and a great sense of humour and attention to detail.

IK+ on Moby Games:

Estimated time since last play: 16 years.

"Ain't Played In Ages" is a live narrated walkthrough / let's play series of various games that I haven't played for many years. Usually I'm playing them in the video for the first time since I was a kid. That's a long time ago.

Intro music is from the classic "cracktro" by Unit A. The full version can be heard and seen here:

  • @JimPlaysGames Ever since I was a nipper and used to play this I always wondered what the name entries in the hi-score section spelled out! Do you happen to know? The only ones you get to see for more than 0.1 of a second spell out something like: WHY NOT TRY PRE SSI NG ...... Then it says there are twenty four letter codes? I can't make it out!

  • @PandosII the missing part is simply "T". If you press T during gameplay their trousers fall down. Didn't work for me though this time. I was so disappointed.

  • The story with "Soulcalibur" was hilarious! LOL!

It's a pleasure watching your videos mate!

  • @alex76gr hehe yeah it was made all the worse for how I was boasting before about how I'd kick anyone's ass.

  • You know you doing badly, when you're not exactly sure if you're even controlling it or is it demo... been there :-)

  • @hanhi hehe yep. I've been practicing though, so now I'm almost certain when it's a demo.

  • @ClassicGamesplay definitely technically superior, but there's a certain charm to the Atari sounds I think. Probably the ears of nostalgia speaking there. Except ears don't speak.

  • I was never that good at this, but think it gave me the love of fighting games I still have. The game still looks great! Also I used to love the cheat where you made your opponents trousers fall down so you could get an easy hit in

  • @KetilsGEEKTV Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. I have quite a few more games planned :)

I've not played IK+ on the Amiga, which is surprising since I had my Amiga for longer than my Atari. I didn't even know there was a turbo mode. It would be cool to see that epic performance sometime :D

  • This was one of my fave fighting games on the Amiga. I was epic on the ball deflection, and fighting in Turbo mode :-) I have to admit that the music in the Amiga version is superior though ;-)

Nice series. Keep it up! :-)
