Mitsubishi Materials has released two different sets of pure gold statues in the likeness of the Seven Lucky Gods that Japanese people believe bring good fortune. The manufacturer has dubbed the series the "Mitsubishi Pure Gold Seven Lucky Gods".

The belief in the Seven Lucky Gods sprang to life in the middle of the Edo era. These Seven Lucky Gods represent a mingling of beliefs stemming from Japanese folk tales as well as traditional beliefs coming from Indian and Chinese cultures. Throughout this era, the belief in these "lucky gods" was popular among the common people of Japan. These days these deities are more or less thought of as good luck charms.

Mitsubishi Materials spared no expense in fabricating these good luck statues. It employed an electro forming technology using pure gold to fashion them, and each statue is inlayed with a "good luck" precious stone.

The company is offering the "Mitsubishi Pure Gold Seven Lucky Gods" in two versions: a set of seven, and a set of two popular gods.

The set of seven runs for 770,000 yen, and the set of two costs 230,000 yen. The company is aiming for its first year sales of 2.64 million yen.
