They loved each other to the end but she in the end could not deal with the complexities which had entered and grown in his life (did I put that daintily enough?).

@tjbnyc76 Wasn't he though? If you think he looks cute here, take a look at him in the 1951 film version of "Show Boat" -- he is a real dreamboat, plus he dances with Marge!
