The so-called Citizens United case offers the Supreme Court a chance to severely curtail the free speech abuses of the Federal Election Commission. That's easy. Corporations can't force you to business with them. Corporations also can't violate your civil rights, put you in prison, or force your son to go to war. The government can (and has) many, many times.

Should corporations really have the same protection of FOS under the FA? corp. speech unfairly influences and distorts the info in the free market and can silence the ideas of people
80% of citizens view corp. independent expenditures as a way to gain unfair access to the legislature. when people believe their voice is being silenced in comparison to huge corporations they can b discouraged from participating in our democracy. we risk loosing the voice of the people for the voice of corporations

While The FA does not specifically mention who/what is covered under FOS i strongly believe it was intended to protect 'we the people' and not corporate entities. Part of me wants to welcome the additional input from corporations--just more info going into the market place of ideas right? NO! corporations control large amounts of money, have no defined life span, no loyalty to government, and a primary goal of making money. They could easily do as much damage to democracy as good, thru FOS.

The framers gave Congress the power to regulate the manner of elections. (Art 1, Section 4) The use of the 1St amendment would not apply if juriscorporatists on the SCOTUS had not granted property (corporations) the constitutional rights of "We the People." This is the corruption of Citizens United and their corporate, Koch-funded tools in the Cato Institute.
The other problem goes back to the second-worse Court decision of my life: Buckley v Valeo where they claimed that $ is a form of speech

They may not be able to force you to do business with them, but they do influence the governments decisions to take your civil rights, put you in prison, or force your son to go to war through lobbying and now is further exacerbated with this decision. Do you think corporations give a flying shit about you or your family? They have an oath to money & profits, the government does not! Do you think weapons manufactures are antiwar?Do you think private prison corps care about inmate rehabilitation
