actually the US army has used a system just like this for a long time to heat water in the field. but they don't use it anymore because they have a nasty tenditsy to blow up. I have used them My self they do a really good job but they are dangerous.

It can be improved by making more air turbulence.
Using this design in a boiler may cause problems with sot.

How wold you make this more efficient Sofie72
It looks like a wast of oil to me you could heat a whole house from that flame of it were used in a combi boiler type style

Hi mitchrx7
Can i ask How did you pre hear your oil and what temp should it be before it will run smooth
Also is that just a garden tap or a needle valve And how much control did the tap give you over the size of the flame
I am building something similar to heat water for a hot tub and need good control over the heat of the flame any advice for a beginner

The oil goes thru a valve (not really a needle valve) that has no control on the flame size, just the amount going into the overflow after the constant level device. After the valve it travels in the tube wrapped around the chimney to preheat it. (I don't know the final temp of the oil)

I think the best way to adjust the energy output is to vary the area of the pool of burning oil in the bottom of the device. Changing the input air pressure would just effect the mixture.

This was just a proof of concept prototype I built when I first learned of the Turk burner concept. Look at the small size, it is just a toy, really.
