I wonder why the gut the building first. Why not blow it up as is? It would save a lot of time and effort.

Re: Rexbingo-Hey hey hey! We save stuff in America too. Almost every major skyscraper in NY is a historical landmark. You guys scrapped the ocean liner Mauretania while we saved the Queen Mary, so....

Anyway, I will always treasure my "privacy please" placard I lifted from the Stardust.

i saw it go down on the night (video) and it was very very cool the way they set up the firework display then the countdown on the building.

long live the stardust,why don,t they build a new one and call it the stardust?the new casino has such a crap name,in britain we try to preserve great history,you blow it up,i stayed many times there,very sad day

So really, these buildings are completely barren from top to bottom before they are torn down? What's really left of the Stardust before implosion were the steel columns, it seems. I remember the Stardust in shots of Vegas on the show with Robert Ulrich (a.k.a. Dan Tanna). Though I only spent two nights in the city, the building and sign were always very familiar.

very sad, I've stayed there many times, felt like home, not a over the top place, but a very comfertable place that I will miss very much. The problem is now to find a place to stay that feels like home
