raw video after fire 8220 N Florida Ave

On 12/25/08 at 0217 hrs TFR received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire at the JL Young Apartments, 8220 N Florida Avenue, apartment 306. On scene within 4 minutes fire crews reported smoke coming from the three story building. Fire crews made their way up to the third floor hallway where they forced open the door of apartment 306 to find it completely full of thick black smoke. On the floor they found an unconscious man. One fire crew pulled the unconscious man outside, carried him down the stairs and provided medical care. The 58 year old man was treated on scene for severe smoke inhalation and transported in serious condition to St Josephs Hospital.

Other fire crews quickly extinguished the small fire in the apartment. While the fire was being extinguished smoke filled the hallway causing about 14 apartments to be temporarily evacuated. The fire was under control about 0240 hrs. One other adult female was treated on scene for a minor injury she sustained while evacuating. She was transported to St Josephs Hospital in good condition.
