A FEW DAYS AGO I FOUND A STRANGE NET-LIKE GROWTH STARTING TO GROW ON THE MOSS COVERING THE BANYAN BONSAI. I SAW IT WAS SPREADING OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS. I BELIEVE IT TO BE A FORM OF SLIME MOLD. WE TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT IT AND TREAT IT WITH A COPPER FUNGICIDE.(***PLEASE VIEW PART 12 ABOUT THE WARNING ON HANDLING SPHAGNUM MOSS BEFORE YOU WORK WITH SPHAGNUM MOSS***).

  • that deffinately killed your moss its basically the same family.

which is probaly what got your moss there in the first place what ever you used to feed or grow your moss.

you might try just hand removing the offenind slime mold, or a little bit of extra sun and no water

  • That is a fungus. Most fungi are made up of threadlike structures called hyphae that collectively are mycellium. Slime molds don't usually have this form. Also-that fungicide will probably kill your moss. Hope it didn't

  • Hello Jerry,

I have a banyan fig too and would be very up set if I had let a mould become so advanced, but keeping it inside near your swimming pool will keep the humidity high, so after treating it with the copper fungicide I would have placed it out side in a nice airy but semi shaded location. I hope the fungicide worked for you. Can you do an update on this. Thanks.

  • Thanks for all the info you have given out. I have watched most if not all of your vids. THANK YOU once again.
